What this yagya is
A yagya is a sacrifice offered together. In this age the sacrifice the scriptures recommend is the chanting of the holy names, and this is a yagya of exactly that. The devotees of Greater Noida West have taken a sankalpa to offer one hundred crore Hari Naam to Sri Sri Radha Govind Dev over four years, beginning on Radhashtami, 19 September 2026.
harer nāma harer nāma harer nāmaiva kevalam
“In this age of Kali there is no other way, no other way, no other way for spiritual progress than the holy name, the holy name, the holy name of the Lord.” — Bṛhan-nāradīya Purāṇa, quoted in Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Ādi 17.21
kalau nāsty eva nāsty eva nāsty eva gatir anyathā
Nobody chants a hundred crore names alone. Added up across a whole community, a few rounds each morning becomes a mountain of holy names, and this page is where the mountain is counted.
How the names are counted
| One maha-mantra | 16 holy names |
|---|---|
| One round (108 beads) | 108 mantras · 1,728 holy names |
| Sixteen rounds | 27,648 holy names |
| One hundred crore names | about 5,78,704 rounds |
| Over four years | about 396 rounds a day — twenty-five devotees chanting sixteen rounds |
How to take part
- Chant your rounds as you normally do — at home, at the temple, on the way to work.
- Come back to this page and add the rounds you have chanted. Daily, weekly, whenever suits you.
- They join the count the moment you submit. If you like, your name appears in the offerings list.
There is no minimum. One round offered sincerely is as welcome as a hundred. Children, elders, first-time chanters — every mala counts.
Counting honestly
Please add only what you have actually chanted. The counter is a record of the community’s sankalpa, not a competition, and the names are being offered to the Lord, who is not fooled by arithmetic.
